Test Specification...BP
Appearance It occurs as white or almost white, crystalline powder or cast in white or almost white sticks, deliquescent.
Identification Test A Test B A. The solution gives reaction of chlorides. B. The solution gives reaction of zinc.
Solubility Very soluble in water, freely soluble in ethanol (96%) and in glycerol.
pH Between 4.6 to 5.5
Oxychlorides Specified test.
Sulfates Not more than 200ppm
Aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium Specified test. A white precipitate is formed, and the supernatant remains colorless.
Ammonium Not more than 400ppm
Assay Not less than 95.0% and not more than 100.5%

Shelf life, Storage and Packing
It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
