Abstract

Cupric sulfate, also known as copper sulphate, are the inorganic compounds. The pentahydrate (CuSO4·5H2O), the most commonly encountered salt, is bright blue. It exothermically dissolves in water to give the aquo complex It occurs as deep blue, triclinic crystals or blue, crystalline granules or powder.

Use & Application

Use as a catalyst in Wacker process, in the production of Chlorine. Cupric chloride is also used in pyrotechnics as a blue/green coloring agent.
