Characters It occurs as a transparent crystals or white, granular powder.

  1. It gives reaction of citrates.
  2. It gives reaction of potassium.
Solubility Freely soluble in water; very slightly soluble in alcohol.
Tartrate Specified test. No crystalline precipitate is formed.
Alkalinity Specified test
Loss on Drying Between 3.0%–6.0% of its weight.
Residual Solvents Meets the requirements
Assay Not less than 99.0% and not more than 100.5.% of Potassium Citrate (C6H5K3O7), calculated on the dried basis

Shelf life, Storage and Packing
It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
